On a PVE server that calculation flips completely. Your base is still there next week. Every circuit you build keeps paying you back, session after session, and the wire tool becomes the single highest-leverage item in your inventory.
These are the ten circuits worth knowing, roughly in the order you'd build them. Each one lists what it solves, what it costs in components, and what it draws in rW — because the fastest way to a base full of blinking red icons is building five circuits without ever adding up the power.

First: Know Your Power Budget
Every consumer in Rust needs its full draw or it simply doesn't run. There's no dimming, no partial operation — a turret needing 10 rW that receives 9 rW is an ornament. So before any of this, know what you're spending.

76 rW is a lot. A single solar panel produces well under that, and only in daylight. This is why the very first circuit on this list isn't optional — you need stored power before any of the rest works after sunset.
The Ten Circuits
Solar & Battery Core Power
Solar panels into a battery, battery out to the base. During the day, solar charges the battery and runs the base; at night the battery carries the load. Add an Electrical Blocker and A/B switch and the changeover happens automatically with no input from you.

Day/Night Auto Lighting
A Solar Panel doubles as a daylight sensor. Feed its output into a Branch set to 1 rW, run that into an Electrical Blocker's Block Passthrough input, and put your lights on the Blocker's output. Sun up, lights blocked. Sun down, lights on. No timer, no maintenance, and the lights only draw power at night.

Electric Furnace Array
Electric Furnaces smelt with zero fuel — no wood, no low grade. Run a Root Combiner or Splitter off your battery bank into a row of four and you have a smelting station that runs itself while you're at a monument.
The catch is that they stop the instant the circuit can't deliver the full 3 rW each. Four furnaces is 12 rW continuous, so put them on a Smart Switch and turn the bank off overnight if your battery is tight — half-smelted ore isn't lost, it just pauses.

Auto-Watering Farm
A Water Pump in a lake or ocean feeds a Water Catcher or storage barrel, which feeds Sprinklers over your planters. Put the pump on a Timer so it only runs in bursts — crops need topping up, not drowning, and a pump running 24/7 is 5 rW you're wasting.
The elegant version uses a Storage Monitor on the water barrel: when the barrel is full the monitor's output can drive a Blocker that cuts the pump, then re-enables it as the level drops. Self-regulating, no timer guesswork.

Base Alarm with Phone Alert
A Laser Detector across a doorway, or an HBHF Sensor covering a room, feeding a Siren Light and an Audio Alarm. The genuinely clever part is the Smart Alarm — pair it to the Rust+ companion app and it pushes a notification to your actual phone when it triggers.
Add a Memory Cell if you want the alarm to latch on until you manually reset it, so you can tell the difference between "something is here now" and "something was here while I was out".

Automatic Airlock
Two Door Controllers, a Pressure Pad between the doors, and a Timer. Step in, the outer door closes behind you on a delay, then the inner opens. Wire an XOR gate between the two controllers and you get a hard interlock — it becomes physically impossible for both doors to be open at once.
Pure quality-of-life on PVE, but it's also the cleanest introduction to logic gates in the whole game. Build this one and Memory Cells suddenly make sense.

Turret Bank with Battery Backup
Turrets are the heaviest load in most bases and the one you least want failing. Give them their own dedicated battery rather than sharing with lights and furnaces — a Root Combiner lets solar and battery both feed the turret line, with the battery covering any shortfall automatically.
On PVE the turrets are there for animals and the occasional scientist wandering in, so two or three well-placed is usually plenty. Four turrets is 40 rW, which is a serious commitment of solar panels.

Industrial Auto-Sorter
The biggest quality-of-life addition Rust has ever shipped. Industrial Conveyors move items between containers automatically, with per-item filters. Point one from your "dump" box into a sulfur box filtered to sulfur, another to a metal box, another feeding your furnaces directly.
Come home from a monument run, drop everything in one box, and walk away while the base files it for you — ore straight into furnaces, components into the workbench box, the rest sorted. On a PVE server where you're doing repeated monument loops, this is hours of your life back.

Shooting Range with Reactive Targets
Reactive Targets drop when hit and reset themselves when powered. Wire a row of them off a Splitter and you have a permanent range. Add a Counter to track hits and a Timer to reset the whole line on an interval.
This is the circuit that turns a PVE server into a place people hang around. Build it somewhere visible, tell your Discord, and watch it become the spot everyone gathers before a raid-base run.

RF Remote Control
An RF Broadcaster paired to an RF Receiver on a matching frequency lets you trigger anything wirelessly. Put a Receiver on your garage door controller, carry an RF Transmitter, and the door opens as you ride up on a horse.
The same trick works for lighting a landing pad from the air, opening a remote outpost from outside, or triggering a whole base "wake up" sequence — lights, furnaces, turrets — from one button in your inventory.

What to Build, In What Order
Don't build these in the order above — build them in the order your base actually needs them.
- 1Core power (#1). Nothing else works without it. Solar into a battery, battery into the base.
- 2Auto lighting (#2). Cheapest possible win, and it teaches you how Blockers behave.
- 3Electric furnaces (#3). The moment you stop feeding wood into furnaces is the moment electricity pays for itself.
- 4Farm watering (#4). As soon as you plant anything you care about.
- 5Alarm (#5) and airlock (#6). Once there's loot worth protecting and you've learned the basic gates.
- 6Turrets (#7). When HQM allows. Give them their own battery.
- 7Industrial sorting (#8). Late wipe, when your monument routine is settled and the sorting is the annoying part.
- 8Range (#9) and RF (#10). Whenever you want to. These are the fun ones.
